Circa 1790. A classic Edinburgh made mahogany and inlaid stage-back sideboard probably by Young, Hamilton and Trotter. The back with original brass rails, with classic urns on the front and sides, retaining the original pair of candle sconces in the center. Two sliding cupboards in the back with all the panels’ inlaid, flat serpentine serving section with a simple moulded fore-edge. To the front a configuration of three drawers, two concave and one convex, retaining their original cast brass swan neck handles and oval back plates. The sideboard rests on four square tapering inlaid legs, with inverted arch with a dot on the tops, this feature occurs regularly on Edinburgh made furniture.
