Circa 1800, late George III mahogany hinged top washstand/side cabinet. The 2 piece top with its wonderful flame mahogany is hinged and opens to reveal various compartments for basin, jug and accessories. At the front there is a configuration of a dummy drawer with 2 brass handles, a small cupboard again with a brass handle and at the base a small drawer. All the cast handles have been gilded and have a very stylish central section. There are lifting handles at the sides and the whole piece stands on 4 square legs finishing on square raised toes and brass castors. The piece has a wonderful colour and patination.
