Description
Circa 1915. A rare pair of ash side chairs designed by Sir Robert Lorimer and made by Whytock and Reid of Edinburgh. The shaped top rail and a classic Lorimer splat, with its book matched veneers, and original zig zag needle point seat pads. With serpentine front and shaped side rails, back legs which are slightly out swept and finish on a rectangular foot. Front legs, with a classic Lorimer shape finishing on an unusual but simple block. (For similar examples see Lorimer drawings for Balmanno Castle in Perthshire).
