Description
Circa 1820. An exhibition quality George IV mahogany open bookcase in the manner of ‘James Mein, Kelso’. The top with figured mahogany, well carved dragooning on the fore-edge with acanthus leaves to the corners, and double tiered frieze beneath. Three open sections each with well carved corbels on the top, which include fluting foliate carving and rondels. Each section has three adjustable shelves with polished mahogany facings. The base has further mouldings, and the whole piece stands on an enclosed figured mahogany plinth, with original concealed castors.
