Late Victorian Oak Library Table

Product Description

Circa 1890, stylish carved oak library table. The rectangular top has a tooled and gilded burgundy leather writing surface and a stylish almost gadrooned carved fore edge. Beneath the top are 3 narrow drawers with cast brass Gothic style handles, the centre one opening to reveal a similar leather writing/reading surface. The drawers on either side are ash lined. There is a foliate carving on each end and solid gables. The table stands on four unusual tapering square legs with a cross over stretcher making them almost trestle end. The legs finish on simple splayed feet with castors. The table is polished on the back and freestanding. Excellent colour and condition, and very sturdy.
