Circa 1920, hardwood rectangular tray from India. The tray has a wrap-around gallery and open sections at each end with a turned lifting handle. There is double string inlay framing the inside of the tray and various elaborate inlays in the centre. These depict a parade being led by horsemen and various warriors and servants. In the centre is a wonderful centrepiece of an elephant clad in all its finery with a figure on top, with various inlays of wood, ivory and some forms of painted plastics or bakelite. An unusual piece of Indian inlaid furniture.
