Circa 1930’s walnut and burr walnut cabinet. The serpentine shaped front with carved open fretwork cornice has a shell in the centre and foliate carving, continuing around the side to a lower scale with wrap around three quarter gallery. The doors have 3 cast brass strap hinges and elaborate lock, opening to reveal a satinwood interior with glass shelves, mirror bottom, original light galleries on the inside of the door and a pull out slide with bakelite handles and a mirror beneath. At the base are 2 doors with a carved frieze between them which continues around the side. A further single drawer has a Bakelite handle. The sides of the cabinet are burr walnut veneers and a simple carved apron. The 4 carved cabriole legs begin with carved knees, carved quarter blocks and finish on a leaf covered toe. It is all completely original.
