Circa 1880, Victorian rosewood, mahogany and inlaid post box which could have been from a private house or club. The top has string inlay and quarter fans on each corner. There is an open aperture for posting letters and a brass plaque with ‘Letters’ engraved. At the front is a small elongated glass window, and a flush brass oval escutcheon. Inside is the makers label ‘Macmichael (to the Queen) 42 South Audley St, London)’, and the box is lined in satin birch. The base has the original velvet liner and makers label again. Stylish desirable piece of Victoriana.
