Circa 1900, pair of Japanese bronze vases with lids, with cast bronze birds on the top and stylish handles with mythical dragon heads and open fretwork. The bodies have scenes depicting houses, birds and people. The body tapers in and there is another bulbous section again with dragons, and then a further bulbous section with castings of flowers, all standing on three legs which are attached to a double rimmed circular base. Wonderful colour and nice mellow patination.
