Circa 1880, unusual Victorian rocking chair. The chair has recently been re-upholstered in deep button green leather which has been hand dyed. The deep button runs around the back, the arms and the seat with a large button section at the front. The mechanism on this chair makes it quite unique. It is mounted on a base with double springs left and right and these are attached to a stained platform. It has been shaped beneath the stained platform and has the original brass and brown porcelain castors. The chair has a wonderful reclining mechanism and the action is firm and interesting.
