Circa 1890, unusual Chinese hongmu and mother of pearl inlaid side table of unusual height. The rectangular top with its large panel, held in place by the 4 mitred sections, and ribbed edge. Beneath this on the front and sides is a profusely inlaid carcass with very stylish mother of pearl inlay. The apron has foliate carved open fretwork with flower heads and birds inlaid with mother of pearl, and tapers down to joins the legs. All stands on 4 simple but stylish square legs with beadings on each of the outer fore edges. Again the legs are profusely inlaid with mother of pearl with trees, flowers and leaves. These legs finish with a classic Chinese toe. Excellent colour and condition.
