Circa 1890, good pair of Chinese hongmu and mother of pearl inlaid 2 tier side tables/stands. The tops with their rectangular panel in the centre and foliate mother of pearl border and inlaid fore edge. Below this is an open fretwork apron which is also smothered in mother of pearl inlay, which continues around on all 4 sides and tapers down into an open fretwork quarter bracket. There is a centre shelf which is beaded and beneath this there is a simple shaped apron on all sides. All stands on 4 square legs with a ribbed edge and mother of pearl foliate inlay with flower heads running down the side of the legs and finishing with a typical Chinese foot almost in the form of a scroll. Both the tables are clean and sturdy. Rare to find a pair.
