Description
Circa 1890, mahogany Aesthetic Movement open bookcase. The solid mahogany top has stylish moulded fore edges and sides, above 5 adjustable shelves which have stylish facings with brass studs in the form of flower heads. Originally these would have had a leather frieze on them. There is a stylish quarter bracket beneath the top, and this occurs at the base in the opposite direction. The whole bookcase stands on an enclosed plinth which has the same proportions as the top. The gables of the bookcase are solid and polished also.
