Large Victorian Mahogany Casket
Large Victorian mahogany casket with a makers label underneath – ‘John Taylor & Son Edin. Ltd, Cabinet Makers Edinburgh’ and product design number A1894, which could also be the date 1894. The deep pagoda top has brass inlay and a nicely carved frieze, and opens to show a single area inside which is polished. The casket is also brass inlaid on the front, sides and back. There are 2 brass lion mask handles with ring pulls on the sides, and the casket stands on 4 hairy paw brass feet. Unusual and very stylish.
Size 23cm high x 37cm wide x 21cm deep.

Neat Sized George III Ash Bench
Circa 1800, neat sized George III ash bench, with a simple top rail and 6 ribbed slats, and long turned and shaped arms. The seat is stained beech and original clout nails, later squab cushion on top. Below the seat is a large rectangular frame of 4 square tapering legs and stretchers on the sides and back. Front stretcher is missing. Nice piece of provincial furniture. Wonderful colour and patination.
